The Royal Gorge Route Railroad train is open for business.
Another long-time tourist attraction in Canon City, The Royal Gorge Scenic Train, a narrow-gauge children’s train, will close after 54-years in September.
Some recent media reports mixed up the Royal Gorge Route and The Royal Gorge Scenic Train, said Mark Greksa, owner of the Royal Gorge Route.
“Because some members of the media have failed to gather the facts, they are reporting that the wrong railroad is closing,” Greksa said. “The Royal Gorge Route Railroad is open for business daily and will remain open for business.”
The Royal Gorge Route Railroad runs daily through the Royal Gorge. Upcoming excursions include Oktoberfest lunch from Sept. 15 – Oct. 7, Santa Express throughout November and December and daily departures aboard coach, vista dome, bar car and other special events from now through the end of the year.
The Royal Gorge Route ferries more than 100,000 passengers from around the world each year.
