The Colorado Springs City Clerk has set the timeline for redistricting in the city limits, as required under the City’s Charter.
The first date for redistricting discussions is Sept. 10 at the Council’s informal meeting. The Council will discuss the current map.
On the morning of Sept. 24, the city clerk will publicly release the preliminary 2012 redistricting map.
Then, Oct. 13, the group will hold a public hearing about the report and Nov. 13, the final redistricting report will be released.
The timeline complies with both the city charter and the city clerk’s past precedent on the redistricting process.
Redistricting is required to ensure that districts are contiguous and equal in population.
