Automakers still owe taxpayers billions

Despite the success of the auto bailout program, GM and its financial backer still owe the government about $25 billion, said the Washington Post.

The bailout to keep automakers open and workers employed cost about $80 billion, or $30,000 per worker.

The path toward reclaiming that money is far from clear.
