Mardosz Fine Art Gallery will host a grand opening celebration on Sept. 14.
The event marks the beginning of the new gallery that artist Chuck Mardosz and his wife Diana Love created on the southeastern edge of downtown.
The two started looking for a spot where Mardosz could open his own gallery and sell his own work nearly a year ago. As the economy tightened these last few years, gallery owners started taking larger percentages of sales and Mardosz decided it was time to branch out on his own.
He and Love had long imagined owning a business together and this was the perfect opportunity. They found an old garage at 109 S. Corona St. and set out to convert it to a gallery.
The two imagine the area becoming something of a downtown arts district. The new gallery is located just across the street from Cottonwood Fine Arts Center at 427 East Colorado and just down the street from Western Jubilee Recording Studio.
The grand opening celebration will run from 5 to 8 p.m.
