American Airlines pilots took to the picket lines this week, protesting cuts in pay and benefits, and supporting a merger with United Airlines, said the Chicago Tribune.
Pilots are picketing at O’Hare International Airport and American has canceled hundreds of flights, saying pilots are partly to blame for the cancellations. About 200 pilots are part of the picketing action, representing 10,000 members of the union.
Despite the pickets, pilots say they have not organized a work action – like asking members to call in sick or to order more maintenance requests than necessary.
