Johnson asked if she could share the prize with a friend, Jennifer Ronhovde, who also has cancer and recently relapsed. Belldini presented both women with fall wardrobes.

Belldini is a Los Angeles-based company that specializes in fashion from eveningwear to sweater knit tops.

Mountain Metropolitan Transit recognized for work during Waldo Canyon fire

Mountain Metropolitan Transit and their private contractors were able to mobilize and effectively contribute to the evacuation process when the Waldo Canyon fire unexpectedly and quickly advanced towards houses and nursing facilities.

MMT evacuated 100 residents from nursing homes-most of whom were in wheelchairs, with mobile oxygen and medication packets — who desperately needed immediate transportation.

For their work, the Transit Services Division of the City of Colorado Springs, the administrator of Mountain Metropolitan Transit, has been selected by the Colorado Association of Transit Agencies to receive the Open Category Award for its role during the Waldo Canyon fire. The CASTA Awards Program recognizes contributions of individuals or agencies in Colorado with outstanding programs or projects or who have made notable contributions to transit. The Open Category Award was created to honor unique accomplishments in the transit industry.
