Colorado Springs manufacturer and businessman Dave Anderson had a theory that he could coalesce voters around an idea of improving the nation’s finances and job market.
He also believed he could rally voters around an independent candidate in U.S. House District 5, facing three-term Republican Rep. Doug Lamborn in the district that includes El Paso, Teller, Fremont, Chaffee and Park counties.
“It didn’t play out that way,” Anderson said “The major party relationships are pretty strong.”
Lamborn, who beat Robert Blaha in the GOP primary, sailed into his fourth term Tuesday, whipping Anderson and three other candidates. Lamborn took 65 percent of the vote to Anderson’s 17 percent.
Lamborn could not immediately be reached for comment. Anderson says he will continue to work on issues in the business community that are important to him, but adds that it’s too soon to think about another possible run.
