Panhandling ordinance gets first reading Nov. 13

The Colorado Springs City Council will take up the “no soliticitation zone’ ordinance at its Nov. 13 formal meeting.

The ordinance will prohibit panhandling downtown and in Acacia Park, if it passes City Council.

The city attorney was asked by Council to present options for addressing solicitation downtown and on the Westside on Oct. 8. However, the presentation was postponed by City Attorney Chris Melcher, and rescheduled for Nov. 13.

Mayor Steve Bach requested the item be presented for first reading at the meeting, public comment will be permitted during the discussion.

The meeting starts at 1 p.m. and will be held at Council Chambers, the third floor of City Hall at 107 N. Nevada Ave.
