A $13 million assisted living and memory care center is under construction at 5355 Centennial Blvd. in northern Colorado Springs.

MorningStar at Mountain Shadows will include 45 assisted living suites and 19 individual care suites for Alzheimer’s patients.

The development of the 3.2 acre project is a joint venture between Denver-based MorningStar Senior Living and Millennium Venture Group, which is also based in Denver and will operate the facility.

“El Paso County expects 16 percent growth in residents age 75 + from 2010 to 2015 and 23 percent growth in the same population between 2015 and 2020,” said Millennium Venture Group President Mike Dailey. “And those seniors increasingly want hassle-free retirement living with resort-style amenities.”

MorningStar will offer studio, one- and two-bedroom suites ranging in size from 311 to 683 square feet.

Residents will also have access to three meals a day in restaurant-style dining rooms and bistros, health and wellness facilities, planned activities and daily outings, a movie theater, 24-hour staffing, full-time licensed nurse, weekly housekeeping and liens service and a beauty salon.
