The first production is Johann Strauss’ effervescent “Die Fledermaus” at the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts March 2 and March 3. This opera is a fun story of pranks, mistaken identity, glamorous parties and laughter set in romantic Vienna. First performed in 1874, “Die Fledermaus” is produced by opera companies across the globe.
The second major opera is back by popular demand — “Verdi’s La Traviata.”
There also will be a number of shows in spring and summer and the Vocal Arts Festival where established professional opera singers join with the Young Artist Intensive Training Program in conjunction with Colorado College’s Summer Music Festival, set for July 8–Aug. 4.
Tickets, which go on sale Jan. 11, can be purchased on the Opera Theatre website or by calling the opera office at 570-1950.
