The project that turned the Milton E. Proby Parkway into a four-lane divided parkway, with three additional bridges has received statewide accolades.
The Colorado chapter of the American Public Works Association named the parkway “Project of the Year.”
The project aided traffic congestion through a major intersection in Colorado Springs.
“The recognition of Milton E. Proby Parkway by the State Chapter of the APWA as the 2012 Project of the Year is a great honor for the City of Colorado Springs and a testament to the tremendous regional benefit that the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority provides,” said city public works director Helen Migchelbrink. “This new expressway forms the ‘Gateway to the City of Colorado Springs’ creating a high-speed link between the airport, I-25 and downtown Colorado Springs.”
Milton E. Proby Parkway is also featured on the cover of the January 2013 issue of the “Colorado Public Works Journal.”
