Minding Your Business

Learn how to research starting or growing a business or how to find a job in a class from 1 to 3 p.m. at Sand Creek Library. This class covers print sources, electronic databases and websites to help find information on industry, competition, vendors, financials and more.

Pikes Peak Regional Manufacturing Forum

The Colorado Springs Regional Business Alliance and Pikes Peak Community College will host the first quarter regional manufacturing forum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at PPCC’s Centennial Campus.

Speakers include Jim Kynor, PPCC associate dean; Joe Raso, Business Alliance CEO; and John Wilson, Business Alliance vice president of business development. The forum also includes a tour of PPCC training programs. For details call 884-2832.

CC transportation study

Colorado College hosts a working group meeting from 4 to 7 p.m. at Slocum Hall to discuss the college’s long-term transportation plan. The general public is welcome to attend and observe. The group will discuss long-term safety and mobility of all who travel through and around the campus; will conduct a collaborative process involving CC stakeholder representatives, students, neighborhoods, businesses and other community interests; and recommend future improvements balancing the needs and interest of the campus and the city.

Post-fire update

The City of Colorado Springs Office of Emergency Management will host a resident preparedness meeting on the post-Waldo Canyon fire flood risk from 6 to 8 p.m. at Front Range Alliance Church, 5210 Centennial Blvd. The meeting will provide education and updated information.

Tax talk

Tax adviser Deborah Mullica will discuss implications surrounding changing family circumstances from 7 to 8 p.m. at Monument Library. A question/answer period will follow.

Transportation planning

The Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration will host a public meeting in conjunction with the quadrennial federal transportation planning certification review of the Colorado Springs metropolitan area from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments, 15 S. Seventh St. Residents may comment on the transportation planning process and how the process is meeting area needs.

Vectra Bank’s Economic Forecast

Vectra Bank will host its 20th annual economic forecast breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Cheyenne Mountain Resort. Fred Crowley, associate director and senior economist at the Southern Colorado Economic Forum, and George Feiger, Contango Capital Advisors CEO, will discuss economic projections. Changing face of UCCS

The Regional Business Alliance will host a luncheon “The Changing Face of the University” with UCCS Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak as keynote speaker from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Antlers Hilton, 4 S. Cascade Ave. Cost is $35 for members; $45 for non members. Register by Jan. 29. Call 884-2832.
