Lions Heart Celebration

Tickets are on sale now for the Colorado Springs Christian Schools 2013 Lions Heart Celebration, which will honor Tim Tebow this year. The event is April 13 at Broadmoor Hall and tickets are $85 and $50 for children ages 3 to 10. The event includes dinner and the program with Tim Tebow. CC economics and business series

Bill Craighead, assistant professor of economics, Wesleyan University, will speak at 2:30 p.m. in Palmer Hall as part of the Colorado College Economics and Business Department 2012-13 seminar series. His talk is on “Monetary Shocks and Real Exchange Rates: Evidence from Two Centuries.” This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Chicken Soup for Caregiver Soul

Discover Goodwill will host best-selling author and motivational speaker LeAnn Thieman for a two-hour “Chicken Soup for the Caregiver’s Soul” event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1460 Garden of the Gods Road. Thieman will address personal and professional caregivers, including parents, child and senior care providers, and those providing assistance to individuals with physical and learning disabilities. Cost is $10 per person and includes chicken soup, salad, dessert and an autographed copy of Thieman’s book, “Chicken Soup for the Caregiver’s Soul.” Register online at DiscoverMyGoodwill.org/chickensoup.

“Shark Tank” Pitch Night

UCCS El Pomar Institute for Innovation and Commercialization and Peak Venture Group will host Pitch Night from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. in Berger Hall on UCCS campus modeled after the popular TV show, “Shark Tank.” The event features five businesses pitches, a panel of business-savvy judges and interactive Q&A with audience members. Sales/Use Tax Workshop

The Colorado Department of Revenue offers a free tax workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. on the laws surrounding state sales and use taxes applicable to businesses conducting sales in Colorado. This workshop is for new or current Colorado businesses, tax preparers consulting with Colorado clients on sales/use taxes, those with no sales tax knowledge, and/or those needing a refresher course on sales and use tax laws.
