Phone scam using SBDC name to get small business information

The Colorado Springs Small Business Development center is warning small businesses that a phone scammer is trying to get valuable information from them.

The SBDC said small business owners are receiving a call from the number, 889-777-1117, claiming to be with the State of Colorado Small Business Development.

This group is asking companies if they are moving, are persistent and rude, said Aikta Marcoulier, SBDC director.

“We have learned that this group is selling small business information to realtors, office supply companies etc.,” she said.

Such calls are not connected to the State of Colorado SBDC Network, she said.

One Response to Phone scam using SBDC name to get small business information

  1. I received 3 missed calls from that phone number but I didn’t know what it was for so I Googled it and pulled up several complaints posted at http://www.callercenter.com/889-777-1117.html. Based on the complaints, the caller was a scammer and has called several people already.
