Higley has done it all — from carpenter to music store manager, to lawyer to CEO.
He is a Denver-based entrepreneur who has founded six tech startups. Now he is the CEO of Vokl, a company working to use smartphones to connect consumers with local businesses.
Higley is among a dozen mentors at TechStars, which has organizations in Boulder, Boston, Chicago, London, New York City and Seattle. Tech Stars works with 75 venture capital firms and angel investors to provide seed money to entrepreneurs. Mentors are there to provide guidance to up-and-coming entrepreneurs.
Peak Venture Group, which was founded specifically to help entrepreneurs get connected to each other and to potential investors and mentors, is trying a new format with an evening meeting. Typically the organization meets for breakfast. But the organization’s organizers are hoping the evening event will attract a new group of people interested in the entrepreneurial community.
“Evening with Entrepreneurs” at 5:30 p.m. at the Mining Exchange, 8 S. Nevada Ave., in the Silver Room with appetizers and a cash bar. Cost is $25. For details, go to the PVG website or contact Chris Franz at 719-351-7020; email email@example.com.
