The Colorado Springs Crowne Plaza has been purchased by 513 Hotels Ltd., a division of the Investment Corporation of America.
And, in its first step as its new owners, the hotel has been renamed as the Hotel Elegante Event and Conference Center.
The company is planning a multi-million dollar renovation, including new Simmons Beautyrest pillow-top mattresses, a new Starbucks Café and Blue Bell Ice Cream Parlor and playground for kids. The hotel lounge will include a sports bar, fire pit and outdoor seating.
The Hotel Elegante is the second-largest hotel in Colorado Springs, says ICA CEO John Bushman, second only to The Broadmoor hotel.
“We might not quite be The Broadmoor, but we’re the next best thing to it,” he said in a press release announcing the purchase. “If they’re ‘champagne and caviar,’ then we’re ‘fine wine and rib-eye’ for approximately half the price.”
New general manager Alex Francis said the hotel’s new goal will be offering guests the “best four-star experience possible.”
ICA also owns an extended-stay hotel in the city, the MCM Elegante Suites at 6450 N. Academy. Other properties include the MCM Elegante Hotels in Dallas, Odessa, Abilene and Beaumont. Texas. The family owned company also has two MCM Grande FunDomes in Odessa and DeSoto, Texas.
