Colorado entrepreneurs launched 122 digital technology startups in 2012 – with 70 companies receiving at least $1 million in investment funding.
Software and business-to-business web companies are the fastest growing sectors, according to the report from Built In Denver.
“2012 was another record-setting year for digital technology companies in Colorado,” said Erik Mitisek, CEO of the Colorado Technology Association and board chairman for Built In Denver. “The spotlight on Colorado’s digital technology economy is shining bright, as government, media, large corporations, major universities and investors from around the country are taking notice.”
The report confirms that Colorado’s tech startups are growing across the state, and that activity in the state attracted more than 47 investors nationwide to fund digital companies in 2012. The highest number of investments, however, came from Boulder-based Foundry Group, according to the report.
