  2. Why do I believe the Garden of the Gods should be the 8th Wonder of the World? It’s really the best choice. The following commentary is my statement as to why it is the 8th Wonder of the World.
My Father and Uncle are historians, and my grandfather was a historian. They all worked for the National Park Service, The Department of the Interior. I have been a volunteer for the USNPS all of my life. Parks are unique to the United States as we are the only country to have preserves that are maintained by the government. Although this one is privately owned it is one of the most unique places I have ever been to. I grew up in the Appellation Mountains which are incredible but the Garden of the Gods has changed me forever in many ways.
I have played here as a child, as an adult I have been a technical rock climber and have been up many routes since 1988. I live next to the Garden of the Gods and moved to Colorado to be near my Mother’s father and to be near the “Garden”. There is a spiritual connection that I believe every person who visits this place feels that the Garden of the Gods radiates a wonderful history and is different than any place on earth.
I have produced a video of the Garden of the God’s in 2007 and have worked for Modern Marvels, Discovery Channel, ABC, Lifetime Channel, Shot segments for America’s Top Model. I am retired from Broadcast TV and currently work in the local Medical Community as an Activities Director. Our residents love to take a Drive for Fun there all the time and are inspired by the scenery and spirituality enhancing their Quality of Life via Leisure and Spiritual Activities.
I believe this should be the 8th wonder of the world because of the way it changes people’s lives when they enter this sacred ground. People see and feel something different than they have seen or experienced in other places in the world. The Garden of the Gods has the history and spiritual impact that is definitely is as relevant as:
Chichen Itza, Mexico – Mayan City
Christ Redeemer, Brazil – Large Statue
    The Great Wall, China
    Machu Picchu, Peru
    Petra, Jordan – Ancient City
    The Roman Colosseum, Italy
    The Taj Mahal, India
I believe it has more relevance as a natural wonder of the world than any of the above mentioned areas. It is one of the oldest and most unique rock formations in the world. It has a history that has spiritual relevance to the Native American culture as well as the Christian religion. It is a tourist site that is overwhelmed by visitors every year and the visitation only increases.
I believe this is the next Wonder of the world.
    Sincerely,
    Carl
