Re/Max Properties signed a lease on a new downtown office space.
The real estate firm, which boasts more than a 14 percent share of the local residential real estate market, has offices throughout the city. But its new space in suite 100 on the ground floor of the Alamo Building at 102 S. Tejon St. will be its first downtown.
“I’m doing this because I believe in downtown,” said Re/Max properties broker and owner Joe Clement. “I believe the future is great for downtown.”
He said his firm has been the top real estate company representing residential property sales in the central part of the city and has also started doing some commercial business.
As downtown revitalization efforts gain momentum and more businesses are moving downtown and more young professionals gravitate toward the core of the city, Clement said he expects downtown real estate opportunities to blossom.
“We’re going to jump right in the middle of it,” he said. “I know we can do well down there.”
He said he signed a lease on 4,700-square-foot suite last week with plans to immediately move eight to 10 agents into the space after remodeling is complete in the late summer. The office should eventually house more than 30 Re/Max Properties staff, he said.
“It’s exciting,” Clement said. “We’re going to be right in the thick of things.”
