Blaming the continuing hot, dry conditions – and continuing fires burning in different parts of the state – the Colorado Springs Fire Department has halted all public fireworks displays in the city. The city remains under burn restrictions, and personal use of fireworks is always illegal, regardless of the weather conditions.
“The safety of our community comes first,” said interim Fire Chief Tommy Smith. “With fire conditions in our area not improving, we all need to take extra precautions to keep our community safe from any fire hazards.”
Most of the public events, including the Colorado Springs Symphony performance during Independence Day at Memorial Park, will continue without the fireworks display
