Morgan Stanley helps Care and Share program

Care and Share Food Bank of Southern Colorado received a $50,000 grant from Morgan Stanley to fund its Send Hunger Packing Program, a child hunger initiative that helps to make sure children are fed when they are not in school. In total, Morgan Stanley has committed more than $13 million for the Feeding America network to distribute millions of meals to children and families across all 50 states. As part of that initiative, Morgan Stanley will award more than $1 million each year for the next four years to local food banks, like Care and Share Food Bank ,to launch, expand and sustain critical childhood feeding programs.

Ameriprise provides grant for Nutrition Initiative

Ameriprise Financial is granting $10,000 to Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado for its Children’s Nutrition Initiative programs. The gift will provide nearly 1 million pounds of food to more than 58,000 children who are at risk of hunger in southern Colorado, said Ameriprise Financial Advisor Brandy Merriam.

Local TV stations honored with Emmys

Jeremy Downing and Kirsten Bennett of KOAA-TV News 5 at 6 p.m. won a Heartland Emmy Award for Evening Newscast – Medium Markets for their story “Aurora Shooting.” KRDO’s Marie Madden won for Daytime Newscast – Medium Markets for her story “Missing Girl Found.” Joany D’Agostino and James Muller of KOAA-TV won the News Promo – Single Spot/Same Day Emmy for “Political Peeper,” and the Emmy for news promotion went to KOAA’s D’Agostino and Nick Jossendal for “Baby App.”

The awards were presented last weekend.

McCloskey’s local dealerships win national honor

McCloskey Dealerships received the National Quality Dealer of the Year award from the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association for demonstrating excellent customer service and investment, contributions to community organizations. The award was presented Thursday at the NIADA banquet in Las Vegas, Nev. The business is owned by Joe and Ann McCloskey.

Penrose-St. Francis given top rating for bariatric surgery

Penrose-St. Francis Health Services achieved a five-star rating in bariatric surgery from Healthgrades, an online resource that helps consumers search, compare and connect with physicians and hospitals. The recognition distinguished Penrose-St. Francis as a top performing hospital in weight-loss surgery and the only five-star recipient in southern Colorado.
