Colorado Springs-based defense contractor Intecon won the Prime Contractor of the Year award from the Colorado District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Intecon LLC received the National and Region VII Prime Contractor of the Year award, which the SBA gives to “small businesses that have provided the government with outstanding goods and services as prime contractors.” The award was given to president and CEO Michael Anderson last month during a luncheon in Washington D.C.
“It was shock,” said Alan Omo, Intecon’s domestic operations director. “They only give out one for the entire nation …We felt very humbled by this.”
The company, which is actually named Integrity Consulting, is a Service Veteran-Owned Small Business that offers telecommunication, information technology, engineering and other services to both government and commercial clients. It was established in 1999 with 100-percent self -financing, according to Omo, adding that the most recent honor was due their efforts at nearby military installations.
“So primarily we got this for our work at Peterson, where we’ve been since 2006,” he said. “A lot of that was based on our work at NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) and [U.S. North Command].”
