Online job fair to aid fire, drought victims

Many Colorado residents have been affected this summer by wildfire and drought.

The virtual job fair will take place Aug. 2 – 16, at www.connectingcolorado.com.

“This online event is targeting people affected by this summer of natural disasters,”  Department of Labor Executive Director Ellen Golombek said in a statement.  “The Black Forest Fire and the Royal Gorge Fire are two that come to mind first but there have been others, too many to list in full.  The Citadel and East Tschuddi Fires, the West Fork Complex, Ward Gulch and Hell’s Canyon fires are among the fires that have charred thousands of acres and impacted hundreds of local residents.”

The fair will list immediate job openings as well as information about employer presentations and resume-writing and interview-training workshops. One section of the virtual fair will be devoted to military veterans’ needs.

The Department of Labor and Employment offered its first virtual job fair in 2011.
