State events highlight high-tech innovation companies

86531128Next week is “Colorado Innovation Week,” to honor the small businesses and startups that are creating hubs of innovation across the state.

Gov. John Hickenlooper made the proclamation yesterday, saying that the week will bring together “top leaders to cultivate innovation and technology, and transform ideas into reality.”

The week’s events include the Monday release of the Colorado Innovation Network report that identifies opportunities for the state to support entrepreneurs.

Tuesday is Google for Entrepreneurs Day Colorado, a partnership with Google and Galvanize, which aims to provide the tools, support and inspiration needed to foster startups all around Colorado.

Wednesday and Thursday is the second COIN summit, which convenes 250 innovation leaders to build a strong network and share best practices.

And on Thursday, brandColorado will unveil the state’s new brand – completing a yearlong branding initiative that started at last year’s summit.

Finally, the “Glorious Failure: In Search of Success” innovation prize will also be revealed Thursday. The business who wins will receive a package worth $75,000. The award will assist a business with high-growth potential.
