Business Expo 2013

Pre-register for the 2013 Business Expo and get in to the all-day event for free. Resume workshop

Is your resume a report or an advertisement? Having trouble getting calls off of your resume? This workshop presents ideas and suggestions on how to spruce up your resume and provides intermediate-to-advanced resume guidance. EPIIC Report

The El Pomar Institute for Innovation and Commercialization at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is hosting its annual report to the community from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m. at the Penrose House, 1661 Mesa Ave. Call 225-3631 to register. Refreshments are provided.

Sept. 25

Targeting Federal Contracts

The Small Business Development Center is hosting a workshop to teach people how to target federal contracts and understand requests-for-proposals and other federal information from 9 a.m. to noon at the SBDC offices, 1675 Garden of the Gods Road, Ste. 1107.

Meyers-Briggs workshop

A major aspect of the job search process is understanding the strengths and weaknesses of your personality, as well as what careers might fit best with your personality. This workshop, based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and its 16 personality types, will help you identify your personality preferences and the careers that align with your preference. The workshop is held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Pikes Peak Workforce Center. Register online at ppwfc.org.

Council town hall

Colorado Springs City Councilor Keith King will hold a town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Westside Community Center, 1628 W. Bijou St. The 2014 budget, homeless people in Bancroft Park and stormwater will be covered.

Sept. 26

Business After Hours

The Colorado Springs Regional Business Alliance, the Better Business Bureau, the Southern Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce and the Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce will host a business after hours event from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fountain Valley School of Colorado, 6155 Fountain Valley School Road. Cost is $10 for member investors, $15 for partnering organizations and $25 for non-members.

Microsoft Word workshops

MS Word workshop is part two of computer workshops at the Pikes Peak Workforce Center. MS Word covers word processing, cut/paste, fonts, bullets, numbering and format changes. The workshop is from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Pikes Peak Workforce Center.

Southern Colorado Economic Forum

Fall Manufacturing Forum

Pikes Peak Community College and the Colorado Springs Regional Business Alliance are hosting the annual fall manufacturing forum. The event starts at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 at the Pikes Peak Community College Theater at the Centennial Campus, 5675 S. Academy Blvd. Registration and networking start at 9 a.m. and from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. there will be presentations by Tom Bugnitz, the CEO of CAMT; Robert Daugherty, James Irwin Trade Academy; Craig Jack, president and CEO of RMB Products; Rep. Student Manufacturing Awareness and Career Expo

The Pikes Peak Community College will host a student expo from 10 a.m. to noon at its atrium at its Centennial Campus, 5675 S. Academy Blvd. Manufacturers are invited to set up booths, meet PPCC students, answer questions about the industry and present opportunities for jobs in the area. Tables are free, contact diana.hall@ppcc.edu to reserve space.

The Business Expo will feature hundreds of local companies in one day at one place. It’s a place to develop contacts, networks and build business partnerships. Held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Freedom Financial Services Expo Center, it’s $10 to attend.

Job Fair/Hiring Event

The Pikes Peak Workforce Center is hosting a job fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Citizens Service Center, 1675 Garden of the Gods Road. The hiring event is specifically for manufacturing companies in the region. To reserve a space for your company, email linda.johnson@elpasoco.com.
