Mountain recognized

Amanda Mountain of Rocky Mountain PBS was recently named one of the Top 25 Most Influential Young Professionals by ColoradoBiz magazine. She was recognized at the Fourth Annual GenXYZ event in Denver.

Utilities wins national honor

Colorado Springs Utilities and its CEO Jerry Forte received the 2013 Employer Support Freedom Award from the Department of Defense. Thursday, CSU and 14 other firms across the country were given the award in a national ceremony. The award recognizes employers who provide outstanding support to members of the National Guard and Reserve. Of CSU’s 1,800 employees, 360 are veterans and 80 are in the National Guard and Reserve.

Kaiser recognized

Kaiser Permanente has been recognized for providing exceptional quality care and member satisfaction in new rankings by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. The health plan has earned a new designation as the region’s Best Value health plan for diabetes care factors.

Anthem, associates give to victims

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield announced its associates and foundation will donate as much as $125,000 to the American Red Cross for the Colorado flood relief effort. Anthem’s foundation is giving $25,000 to the Red Cross for flood relief efforts and also announced a dollar-for-dollar match of Anthem associate contributions up to $50,000, for a potential total donation of $125,000.

Kaveney honored with award

Kevin Kaveney, a managing director of Northwestern Mutual in Colorado Springs, is being honored with the company’s Managing Director Achievement Award. The award recognizes overall excellence in district network office development, including productivity, recruitment and retention of financial representatives, and persistence in serving and retaining clients. Kaveney’s current insurance-in-force totals more than $1.1B and his territory includes Southern Colorado.

PPCC awarded $2.3 million

Pikes Peak Community College was awarded $2.3 million from the US Department of Labor for the development and expansion of innovative training programs. The grant was part of a $24.9 million grant awarded to colleges in Colorado. The grant is part of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant Program, which promotes skills development and employment opportunities in the fields of advanced manufacturing, transportation, health care, science, technology, engineering and math.

PMC expands

Power Motive Corp. is expanding to its sixth location, this one in Cheyenne, Wyo. PMC is a distributor of small industrial construction equipment and has a branch in Colorado Springs.

A new management team

Griffis/Blessing Inc. has been chosen to provide management services for the 19,000 square-foot Springs Center Building, located at 1826 East Platte Ave. The Drum Academy, JBL Action and Illumination Systems are organizations that call the Springs Center home. The management team of portfolio manager Jeremiah Nease and management assistant Jennifer Weis will supervise the day-to-day operations of the property.

Cypress is Business of the Year

Cypress Benefit Administrators, a national third party administrator with a location in Colorado Springs, was recently named a 2013 Business of the Year by the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the third largest chamber in Wisconsin.
