The Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority will start multiple temporary lane reductions along Austin Bluffs Parkway beginning Oct. 12.
The PPRTA release states that roadwork projects, which are scheduled to be completed by Oct. 25, will include construction to accommodate a waterline, storm sewer and a new turning lane. The projects are planned as follows:
From 6 a.m. Oct. 12 through 6 a.m. Oct. 14, both the west- and eastbound roadways of Austin Bluffs Parkway will be reduced by one lane between Stanton Road and Regent Circle. Also during this time, the westbound Austin Bluffs Parkway off-ramp to Union Boulevard will be reduced to one lane.
Eastbound Austin Bluffs Parkway to American Drive will be reduced by one lane from 6 a.m. Oct. 12 until 5 p.m. Oct. 25 to accommodate construction of a new right turn lane. The current turning lane at American Drive will be closed and motorists must use a detour route via Morning Sun Avenue.
One eastbound and two westbound lanes of Austin Bluffs Parkway at Barnes Road will also be closed from 6 a.m. Oct. 12 to 6 a.m. Oct. 14.
According to the release, the roadwork is expected to create delays and detours, but access to homes and businesses will remain unobstructed.
