Colorado Lt. Gov. Joseph Garcia will address the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics technical symposium, which UCCS plans to host on campus Oct. 25.
During the event focused on the future of the aerospace industry, Garcia will deliver brief remarks and participate in a panel discussion on the trajectory of Colorado’s aerospace industry, according to a UCCS news release.
“We are honored that Lt. Gov. Garcia – who is a huge advocate for space and science – has agreed to participate in this event,” said Taylor Lilly, assistant professor of engineering and applied science, in the release. Lilly as serves as the symposium’s organizer and vice-chair of the AIAA’s Rocky Mountain Section.
Garcia’s remarks and the panel discussion will both take place following lunch at Berger Hall on the UCCS campus.
Aside from his role in the Governor’s office, Garcia serves as co-chair of the Colorado Space Coalition and promotes the education of science, technology, math and engineering to help cultivate Colorado’s next batch of aerospace workers.
“There are many facets of the future of aerospace,” Lilly said. “We see this as an opportunity for science, business, engineering as well as other disciplines to come together to learn and to think about the future.”
