The Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau’s annual Tourism Industry Awards celebration centered around a Champions for Tourism theme, Thursday evening at the Hotel Eleganté Conference & Events Center.
CVB President and CEO Doug Price and Board Chair Alicia McConnell, director of training sites and community partnerships, U.S. Olympic Committee and 2013 Business Journal Woman of Influence, presented the awards.
Price praised the various agencies that have been rebuilding communities after two consecutive summers of natural disasters. Honorees included:
El Paso County Commissioner Amy Lathen; Black Forest Together; Chairman of the Board of Black Forest Together, retired U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Edward Bracken; City of Manitou Springs; Manitou Springs Mayor Marc Snyder; Manitou Springs Chamber of Commerce and Office of Economic Development, Chief Operating Officer Marcy Morrison and Executive Director Leslie Lewis; Cañon City; Cañon City Mayor Tony Greer; and Royal Gorge Bridge & Park, General Manager Mike Bandera.
About 240 people attended the event, which was sponsored by Hotel Eleganté, Ent Business Banking, Kaiser Permanente, Miller-Coors, DocuMart, Five-Star Audio Visual and Marvel’s Cake Boutique.
