YOT Club benefit

The 17th annual YOT Club Holiday Benefit, which collects toys, gifts and cash for underprivileged children in southern Colorado for the 2013 holiday season, will be from 7 to 11 p.m., at The Pinery on the Hill, 775 W. Bijou St. Visit www.yotclub.org to register for the event.

Hospice tree lighting for loved ones

Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care outdoor community tree-lighting ceremony in remembrance of loved ones will take place at 5 p.m. at Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, 215 S. Tejon St., south lawn. Refreshments will be served, and free parking will be available at Plaza of the Rockies.

CSBJ Power Lunch: the state of higher education

CSBJ will host a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Colorado Springs Marriott Hotel, 5580 Tech Center Drive. Leaders from four preeminent higher education institutions discuss jobs, economic drivers and future workforce issues. They will also talk about what role the Colorado Springs business community plays in their success and what role the schools play in the region’s success. Zoo goes electric for holidays

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s 23rd Annual Electric Safari runs Dec. 6-8 and Dec. 13-Jan. 1 (closed Christmas Eve). Celebrate the holiday season surrounded by sparkling trees, animated animal sculptures and warming fires throughout the Zoo.
