SBA opens Web portal for award nominations

Tlogohe U.S. Small Business Administration is now accepting nominations through an online portal for its annual National Small Business Week Awards.

The SBA announced Friday in a news release that they will accept 2014 nominations — including annual Small Business Person of the Year award — through Jan. 17. This is the second consecutive year that the organization has used the Web system to receive nominations.

Awards open for nomination also include:

  • Phoenix Awards, which recognize outstanding accomplishments in disaster recovery
  • Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year
  • Small Business Subcontractor of the Year
  • Dwight D. Eisenhower Award for Excellence
  • SBA 8(a) Graduate of the Year, for graduates of the SBA Business Development Program
  • Exporter of the Year
  • Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Award
  • Women’s Business Center of Excellence Award
  • Veterans Business Outreach Center Excellence in Service Award

Nominations for any of these awards may also be submitted via mail to SBA District Offices. Mailing information can be found here.

“Since 1963, National Small Business Week has recognized the outstanding achievements of America’s small businesses for their contributions to their local communities, and to our nation’s economy,” officials stated in the release said. “For over 50 years, SBA will continue its tradition in honoring the nation’s 28 million small businesses.”
