ACA seminar for employers Dec. 5 in Springs

163751742If your business will be impacted by the Affordable Care Act, you may want to attend a Dec. 5 event in Colorado Springs. Sponsored by BBSI, a human resources organization, and national small business advocacy organization Small Business Majority, the free seminar will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Webster University, 5475 Tech Center Drive, Suite 110.

Speakers at the event will explain how small businesses can benefit from the state’s health insurance marketplace, Connect for Health Colorado, which opened for enrollment on Oct. 1.

The event is open to all small business owners and will feature Small Business Majority’s Colorado Outreach Manager Tim Gaudette, who will discuss topics relevant to small businesses. They include small business tax credits, wellness grants and cost containment provisions.

Gaudette will provide detailed information on Connect for Health Colorado, Colorado’s health insurance marketplace, where small business owners can pool their buying power to help drive down insurance costs. And he will explain how the marketplace will function and how small business owners can join now that open enrollment has started.

A question and answer period will follow the discussion.

“It’s important for small business owners to learn more about the health care law and how it affects them,” said Patricia Gorman of BBSI. “These interactive dialogues are a great way for them to get the information they need to take advantage of and comply with key provisions of the new law, and for us to get feedback on their thoughts and concerns.”

“Access to the new health insurance marketplace will provide new options for many entrepreneurs to obtain health insurance for them and their employees. This marketplace will allow small employers to pool their buying power, which will rein in costs and help them better afford health insurance,” said Gaudette. “These events will inform small business owners about how the marketplaces and the Affordable Care Act’s other business-friendly provisions can help so they can take advantage of them.”

The event includes a free lunch.
