Space down to Earth

The Space Foundation will bring space down to Earth for all ages from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Space Foundation Discovery Center, the region’s only space, science and technology attraction, at 4425 Arrowswest Drive, just off Garden of the Gods Road. Spend the day learning about the history of the U.S. space program, enjoying the arts and crafts area, joining “Cool Science” for hands-on demonstrations of extreme cold weather using liquid nitrogen and solid carbon dioxide, watching special winter weather-related presentations featuring the Discovery Center’s Science On a Sphere and relaxing with cookies and cider. Daily admission fees are $9 for adults, $7 for seniors (age 65+), $7 for college students with ID, $3 for children ages 4-17. Military fees are $4.50 for adults with ID, and $1.50 for children ages 4-17. Children age 3 years and younger are admitted free.

Ent home buyer seminar

Learn about the financial steps in the home-buying process, including preparing for home ownership, a mortgage loan application checklist and details on the variety of mortgage loan products available, including special products for first-time home buyers, 10 a.m. to noon, Galley Service Center, 4545 Galley Road.

Executive Women luncheon

The Colorado Springs Chapter of Executive Women International is hosting its annual holiday luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Broadmoor. Cost is $45 for lunch, and the event will feature local firefighters, with 2014 calendars for sale. Also, EWI will hold a TESSA holiday fundraising drive during the event. Peterson officers collecting for Care and Share

The Pikes Peak Top 3, a nonprofit organization comprised of senior noncommissioned officers stationed at Peterson Air Force Base, will collect non-perishable food for Care and Share Food Bank of Southern Colorado from 5 to 9 p.m. at 5303 Spoked Wheel Drive, an officer’s residence. The house is decorated with 5,700 lights synced to nearly 30 minutes of Christmas music. Come out and share the fun with Santa Claus and his elves as they hand out candy canes and hot chocolate.
