Colorado Technical University officially opened its new Campus Concierge Center, which will serve as a “one-stop shop” for a wide range of student and faculty needs, according to a CTU marketing representative.
“Just as a hotel concierge can help with everything from providing driving directions to booking reservations at the hottest restaurant in town, CTU’s Concierge Center assembles the collective expertise of the university into one team at one location,” officials said in a news release. “Students can receive immediate assistance with nearly all their needs, including military/vocational rehabilitation services, career services, IT, financial aid and academic advising.”
Among those present during the ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday were Colorado Springs City Council President Keith King and City Councilor Jan Martin, as well as campus President Tim Gramling.
The new center features information kiosks and computer stations that incorporate a “request tracking system to monitor each student’s request and our response time, and offers multiple points-of-contact,” according to the release.
The development of the Concierge Center was a result of trend studies that showed the possibility of dramatic increases in student enrollment — many of those nontraditional — across the state.
“The Concierge Center approach is rooted in the idea that student and faculty time is better spent learning and teaching, not dealing with daunting administrative processes,” the release said.
The university reports that, since it opened, the center has experienced a daily average of 160 student, faculty and staff visitors.
“Looking ahead to 2014, CTU continues to embrace new trends to help set students up for success inside and outside the classroom,” the release said.
