CDOT seeks interested parties for interchange project

134551232The Colorado Department of Transportation is seeking letters of interest from companies or teams interested in helping reconstruct the interchange at Interstate 25 and Cimarron Street.

The state has decided to use a design-build approach.

The project cost is $95 million with construction estimated between $65 million and $85 million. The City of Colorado Springs is providing $5 million, while El Paso County is giving $1 million, according to a news release.

Design-build combines those two aspects of the project into one contract, said CDOT Engineer Dave Watt.

The award contract is expected by the end of this year, with construction to begin mid-2015 with completion by July 2017, according to CDOT.
