DSC_9805The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory Chocolatey Almond Cereal manufactured by Kellogg’s is now being distributed nationally, according to Colorado Springs franchise owner Ron Baalman.

Headquartered in Durango, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory announced the cereal expansion in December.

Previous to the announcement, the cereal was sold only at Target in select markets.

“We’re excited to share with you the news that Kellogg’s Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory Chocolatey Almond Cereal will be available at a nationwide list of retailers very soon,” company officials said. “While some chains may have very recently received their shipments, more will follow in January and throughout the first part of 2014.”

“I saw it in the local King Sooper stores,” Baalman said. “We get responses back from people who see the product in stores. The feedback is positive.

“They’re seeing the copper logo jumping out at them,” Baalman said.

The chocolate in the cereal does not come from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. It also does not contain the ingredient required for the legal definition of chocolate: cocoa butter.

  1. This is shameful. I tried the new cereal, and it doesn’t taste like chocolate. At all. It isn’t even as chocolatey as Cocoa Puffs. Plus, it’s a smaller package for a higher price than most cereals.

Although Rocky Mountain Choc. Factory may make some royalty bucks from this, it is going to hurt their reputation badly once people taste is and realize how awful it is!

  2. Great news for a great Colorado business! I not only love RMCF – I love this cereal. Glad it will be available in locations in addition to Target.

  3. I saw this cereal for the first time this evening at Kroger. I considered trying it because it looks sinfully delicious! I did not make the purchase, however. I came home to do a little searching for a coupon. I thought that with this being a new product there would be some incentive to the consumers to give it a try…not the case :(
This product will never make it unless there is some sort of advertising for it! You cannot find it on the Kelloggs site or the Kelloggs Family Rewards site. I would absolutely love a coupon for this!!!!
