Contractors win landscape awards

The John Garvey Person of the Year award of The Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado was presented to Eric Moroski of Weisburg Landscape Maintenance. The award is given to someone who provides outstanding volunteer service during the year. The Outlook Emerging Leader Award was presented to Levi Heldrich of Colorado Tree Farm Nursery. The award is given to a young professional less than 40 years old who is committed to improving the landscape industry.

Architects receive awards

RTA Architects, specialists in educational planning and design, and Holly School District RE-3 were recently awarded the 2013 Peak Design Award and the 2013 People’s Choice Award for the Holly PK-12 school. RTA also earned the 2013 Peak Merit Award for Ignacio Middle School and the 2013 Summit Design Award for the Mapleton Early Childhood Education Center, all presented by The Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI), Rocky Mountain Chapter.

Penrose project wins award

The Penrose Hospital Emergency Department renovation project won the 2013 Vista Award for Renovation from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering. The 13,300-square-foot renovation was designed by RTA Architects and built by GE Johnson Construction Co., both based in Colorado Springs.

AFA announces distinguished grads

Bart Holaday and Gen. (Ret.) William R. Looney III received the Distinguished Graduate Awards for 2013 from the U.S. Air Force Academy and the Association of Graduates. Holaday graduated in the class of 1965, and Looney graduated in 1972.

Entrepreneur honored

Porscha Shideler received the sales excellence award at Once Upon a Child’s annual conference and trade show in January.

Ent supports the community

Ent Federal Credit Union will continue to provide scholarships for UCCS students, and help sponsor the Southern Colorado Economic Forum, the Karen Possehl Women’s Endowment Unstoppable Women Luncheon and an athletic booster club.

Lifetime award

Terry Naber of RE/MAX Properties received the RE/MAX Lifetime Achievement Award, which shows she reached over $100 million in closed sales.
