160756458The Rocky Mountain Agribusiness Association awarded five scholarships, amounting to nearly $7,000, to students along the Rockies.

The association presented its awards–including one to a current UCCS student–during its annual Winter Conference and Trade Show in Denver, according to a news release.

The three students who received $1,200 awards are studying agriculture or a related field at Colorado State University, Northeastern Junior College and University of Wyoming. The two other award recipients, who received $1,500 scholarships, are children of Association members.

“It is so important to invest into the future leaders of our industry and RMAA gets that,” Hailey Combs, one of the recipients, said in the release. Combs attends Northeastern Junior College and hopes to one day teach agriculture education and work with children.

The five recipients were:

  • Hailey Combs, Northeastern Junior College who received a $1,200 award
  • Daniel Adamson, University of Wyoming, who received a $1,200 award
  • Tiffani Walker, Colorado State University, who received a $1,200 award
  • Jana Elrick, UCCS, who received a $1,500 Dale Seyler Scholarship
  • Chantel Campbell, Colorado State University, who received a $1,500 Bill Gordon Scholarship

The event also celebrated Gary Peterson as the association’s educator of the year.
