Penrose-St. Francis Health Services was named an America’s 50 Best Hospitals™ by Healthgrades®, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.
This is the seventh year in a row Penrose-St. Francis has achieved the distinction. The hospital is in the top 1 percent nationwide and one of only 15 hospitals in the country to receive the award the past seven consecutive years.
Healthgrades evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide and stated if hospitals performed at the level of all hospitals achieving this distinction, 157,069 lives could have potentially been saved nationwide between 2010 and 2012. In other words, there was a 23.29 percent lower risk-adjusted mortality rate for the hospitals among the Healthgrades’ America’s 50 Best Hospitals when compared to all other hospitals in the nation (across 19 procedures and conditions where in-hospital mortality was the clinical outcome).
“Being named an America’s 50 Best Hospital by Healthgrades for the seventh year in a row really demonstrates the superior care provided by our team of world-class physicians, associates and volunteers,” said Margaret Sabin, president and CEO of Penrose-St. Francis Health Services.
