Mile High Youth Corps in Colorado Springs is hiring 70 people between the ages of 18 and 24 to do conservation and restoration work outdoors, all summer. These Corpsmembers will make a $320 a week and earn a $1,468 AmeriCorps scholarship for completing the summer season.
“An awesome summer job? A pathway to a career in the outdoors? A chance to learn the teamwork and problem-solving skills employers are seeking?” asked Regional Director Nancy Wilson. “All of the above.”
Mile High Youth Corps have completed more than 27 weeks of wildfire restoration and mitigation in the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest burn scars last year. This year the crews will do more.
The nonprofit organization runs chainsaw and trail crews who do a variety of conservation work. This year five ten-person crews will be based in Colorado Springs, one crew in Pueblo and one crew in Cañon City. Call 719-630-7421 or visit the office at 714 E. Vermijo Ave., Colorado Springs.
Mile High Youth Corps also run crews in the fall and sometimes in the winter.
