TechWise awarded its biggest DoD contract

Colorado Springs-based defense contractor TechWise has been named prime contractor for support base services at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Fort Lewis, Washington.

“TechWise looks forward to the new challenges and opportunities to serve the U.S. Armed Forces at Joint Base Lewis-McChord,” President and CEO Shawnee Huckstep said in a recent TechWise news release.

The contract, which is the largest U.S. Department of Defense job awarded to the company thus far, entails three years of support for “Army and Air Force personnel as they mobilize, deploy and demobilize in today’s changing military landscape,” the release stated.

“TechWise is proud to be awarded the … contract, demonstrating our ability to meet all of [Installation Management Command’s] garrison requirements, supporting the U.S. Armed Forces with their changing requirements, and meeting the individual needs of our men and women in uniform,” Huckstep said in the release.

The support base services job is an installation management command contract integral to achieving garrison augmentation support services in for the Army Force generation process, according to the release.

“As part of this … contract, TechWise will provide all management, administration and labor necessary to include project management services in nine [support base services] task areas, including plans, training, mobilization, security, human resources, services, movements, billeting and facilities and information management,” the release stated.

ColoradoBiz magazine listed TechWise as No. 18 in its 2011 list of top women-owned businesses. Huckstep was also named the Colorado Small Business Administration’s 2007 Business Person of the Year and one of Colorado Springs Business Journal’s 2012 Women of Influence.
