Lend Lease Public Partnerships announced Wednesday that it has completed the initial development phase of its Tierra Vista Communities, located at Peterson and Schriever Air Force Bases in Colorado Springs.
The $316-million on-base military housing project has created homes for more than 860 airmen and their families and also includes projects at Los Angeles Air Force Base, according to a news release.
“Our vision at Lend Lease is to create the best places, and I’m genuinely proud to say that our team, which includes our US Air Force partners at Schriever and Peterson, has done just that,” said Jerry Schmitz, Lend Lease project director for Tierra Vista. “We’re dedicated to improving the quality of life for the Airmen and families that call Tierra Vista Communities home, and we’ll continue to provide an unmatched level of service throughout the next 43 years of the partnership. We’ve only just begun.”
The first phase of development began in March 2007. Peterson’s Tierra Vista community celebrated the completion of its first home in June 2009 and the rest had been constructed by November 2012. The first home at Schriever was completed in August 2009, and the last in July 2010.
The project timeline is 50 years: Although the initial development is complete, the release said that renovation work and special projects will continue throughout its remaining 43 years.
