Discover Goodwill and Colorado Springs Health Partners P.C. (CSHP) will jointly hold a ground-breaking ceremony in Monument Wednesday to kick off the construction of new facilities and extended services to the community.
Goodwill and CSHP will each construct new buildings for their varied interests.
The new centers will be located on three acres on Leather Chaps Road, north of Baptist Road.
Discover Goodwill’s new retail and community programs center, slated to open this holiday season, will expand the organization’s retail and donation operations, while helping people with economic and developmental challenges live more independently.
The Goodwill project will be 23,552 square feet in size, and when open, it will employ 50 people.
Scheduled for opening in Spring 2015, CSHP’s new medical center will increase accessibility and convenience for patients by consolidating its current family medicine providers in Monument with supporting pediatric and urgent care clinical services.
The CSHP building will be 15,800 square feet. The CSHP will maintain its current two primary care physicians, but will add urgent care to the services offered, said Lynn Jones, spokesperson for group. Also, podiatrists, ophthalmologist ENT specialists and orthopedics specialists will visit the clinic on a rotating basis.
The building will have 26 exam rooms and use geothermal heating and cooling systems.
“At Goodwill, we’re always eager to partner with other organizations to help better serve our communities,” said Keri Funkhouser, marketing and communications manager for Discover Goodwill of Southern and Western Colorado.
