CNAKaiser Permanente Colorado, the state’s largest nonprofit health plan, announced Monday that its second Colorado Springs medical office will be at 215 Parkside Drive.

The Parkside Medical Offices will provide access to primary care, laboratory, pharmacy and routine medical imaging services under one roof.

The Parkside Medical Offices will open to Kaiser Permanente members in January. This is the health plan’s third medical office building in Southern Colorado. Kaiser Permanente’s Briargate Medical Offices are located on the north end of town. The new Parkside facility will provide members with an additional option to access Kaiser Permanente’s health care services.

“We wanted to bring a new medical office building to this community, and the central location across from Memorial Park seemed ideal,” said Holly Kortum, Kaiser Permanente’s executive director of operations in Southern Colorado. “Our Parkside Medical Offices will make it easy to see a doctor, pick up a prescription or have blood work done all in the same place.”

While specific staffing plans are still in the works, the new Parkside Medical Offices will employ approximately six health care professionals, including up to three physicians as well as nurses, technicians and administrative staff. Interior construction on the 20,000-square-foot facility is tentatively scheduled to begin in August.

“We are bringing more of our integrated care delivery system to our Southern Colorado members,” said Dr. C. Rocky White, Kaiser Permanente’s Southern Colorado market medical director. “If you need to have routine preventive screenings, have lab work or medical imaging done, or get a prescription filled — it’s all here.”

The new location is the latest component of Kaiser Permanente’s new expansion plans for the Southern Colorado service area. The expansion began in February 2014 when Kaiser Permanente opened its Briargate Medical Offices and added specialty care services in Colorado Springs, including allergy care and dermatology. Rheumatology and adult medical genetics will be phased in later this year and additional specialties will be introduced within the next few years.

The health plan continues to add members in Southern Colorado and more than 4,000 Southern Colorado residents have joined Kaiser Permanente Colorado through Connect for Health Colorado, the state’s health insurance marketplace. As Kaiser Permanente increases its services in Southern Colorado, the health plan is exploring new options for employer groups, families and individuals. These plans will accommodate different budgets and allow Kaiser Permanente to offer a full suite of options for all ages and incomes.

According to the 2013-2014 National Committee for Quality Assurance’s Insurance Plan Rankings, Kaiser Permanente is the top-rated commercial health plan in Colorado. Kaiser Permanente Colorado’s 2014 Medicare plan received five stars — the program’s highest rating — from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. In Southern Colorado specifically, Kaiser Permanente has launched innovative, personalized care programs such as Kaiser Permanente Hospital Medicine at Memorial Central and North Hospitals and Kaiser Permanente Care Connections.
