GoodwillGoodwill of Southern and Western Colorado announced Monday that its newest Colorado Springs facility will open Tuesday and will help to create 180 jobs.

Discover Goodwill will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. July 29 to celebrate the opening of the Retail Support Center at 2855 S. Academy Blvd., according to a news release.

The 92,000-square-foot retail support center will “consolidate and enhance Discover Goodwill’s existing retail and donation operations,” and will include an outlet for bulk sale of clearance items, a fleet transportation hub, donation processing facilities and recycling services.

“The RSC will help Discover Goodwill meet the community’s growing need to put people to work and expand its regional retail and donation operations, along with promoting economic growth and environmental sustainability,” the release stated.

Goodwill said in the release that the center will initially employ 60 workers but that it will allow for an additional 120 jobs to be created when the nonprofit soon opens two more retail locations.

The event will include addresses delivered by Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach and Discover Goodwill President and CEO Karla Grazier, according to the release.

“The RSC strategically aligns with Mayor Bach’s economic revitalization plan for the S. Academy Blvd. corridor as an Economic Priority Zone,” the organization stated in the release.
