Roadwork on the alley between Bijou Street and Platte Avenue near the Cascade Parking Garage is scheduled to begin in August.
The Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs announced Monday that work to the alley — including improvements related to drainage, drivability and pedestrian-friendliness — will begin during the second week of next month.
A pre-construction meeting for nearby business and property owners will be hosted Aug. 4 in the alley prior to closure to traffic from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Aug. 7 and 8 for the milling phase.
The roadway will be reopened with obstructions during the concrete work phase Aug. 8 to Aug. 15. It will be once again closed to all traffic Aug. 18 to Aug. 23, during the paving and StreetPrint decorative work phases.
Sarah Harris, development manager for the Downtown Partnership, said in the release that dumpsters and grease cans along that stretch will need to be relocated to the north and south ends of the alley by Aug. 18 and any deliveries will need to be picked up in the middle lane of Tejon Street until the alley is reopened to traffic on Aug. 24.
Colorado Springs Parking Enterprise will give temporary parking passes for the Cascade Parking Garage to businesses with parking affected by the process.
