Jan Erickson, founder and CEO of Janska/Clothing that Comforts, was named the 2014 Accolades Business Leader of the Year by the Southern Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce. Erickson received the award at Tuesday’s Accolades luncheon.
Erickson was named by the U.S. Small Business Administration the 2013 Colorado Small Business Person of the year.
On hand to present the award was 2013 winner Kathy Boe and SCWCC Founder and Chair of the Selection Committee Jan Weiland, the 2002 honoree.
All Janska products are crafted in the United States, with some piecework outsourced to producers in the country, as well as locally. The bsiness made $2.4 million in sales this year and plans to increase that figure by 20 percent this year.
Also named at the luncheon were first-time award winners Tascha Yoder, as member of the year and Dana Barton, as young professional of the year. Doug Kelley was also presented with the honorary Director’s Award for his service and support to SCWCC over the past year.
Other nominees for the Accolades Award were Vicki Gramm of Signarama, Barbara Harris of Harris Group Realty, Jan McHugh Smith of the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, Robin Roberts of Pikes Peak National Bank, Jennifer Ryan of The Mural Project of Colorado Springs, Carrie Simison of The Independent and Susan Strasbaugh of Strasbaugh Financial.
