UCCS fall enrollment reaches record high

uccsEnrollment at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs surpassed 11,000 students this fall — an increase of 5 percent over last year — setting a new record for the university.

The increase to 11,199 students was reported by UCCS in a news release Thursday, which stated that detailed enrollment data is expected to be released mid-September. The university reported that final enrollment figures may slightly differ from these preliminary reports.

The 5.7 percent increase over fall 2013 accounts for an addition of 601 students. The school has grown by more than 3,500 students (47 percent) since 2005, according to the release.

“We are pleased that a record number of people selected UCCS as the place to continue their futures,” Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak said in the release. “I appreciate the significant efforts of faculty and staff members who continue to provide personal support for students, explain that the university is an excellent value, and help students achieve their dream of a college education.”

This semester, UCCS has also welcomed the largest freshman class in the school’s history. Preliminary figures indicate that 1,759 freshman students (11.2 percent increase over last year)  have enrolled.
