Shawn Clift, leader in the clubhouse of the CSBJ Corporate Golf League scored an ACE on the par 4 5th at Pine Creek, Monday July 6. The magnificent achievement was witnessed by Dave Vessey. It is reported that Mr. Clift was too cheap to buy drinks. No surprise. The following account was submitted by the “Golf Gods” in witness:

And again another of the proud youths would say: “Would that the fellow might find profit in just such measure as he shall prove able ever to swing this club.” So spoke the wooers, but Shawneus of many wiles, as soon as he had lifted the great club and scanned it on every side–even as when a man well-skilled in the lyre and in song easily stretches the string about a new peg, making fast at either end the twisted sheep-gut–so without effort did Shawneus lift the great club. And he held it in his right hand, and tried the shaft, which sang sweetly beneath his touch, like to a swallow in tone.
But upon the wooers came great grief, and the faces of them changed color, and Zeus thundered loud, shewing forth his signs. Then glad at heart was the much-enduring, goodly Shawneus that the son of crooked-counselling Cronos sent him an omen, and he took up a swift Pro V1, which lay by him on the table, bare, but the others were stored within the hollow sleeve, even those of which the Achaeans were soon to taste. This he took, and laid upon the bridge of the tee, and drew the shaft and the notched ball even from the tee box where he stood, and let fly the shaft with sure aim, and did not miss the green but clean into the hole where strangers watched in wild wonder.
But he spoke to Telemachus, saying: “Telemachus, the stranger that sits in thy halls brings no shame upon thee, nor in any wise did I miss the mark, or labour long in swinging this shaft; still is my strength unbroken–not as the wooers scornfully taunt me. But now it is time that drinks too be made ready for Vesseus, while yet there is light, and thereafter must yet other sport be made with song and with the lyre; for these things are the accompaniments of a feast.” He spoke, and made a sign with his brows, and Telemachus, the dear son of divine Shawneus, girt about him his sharp sword, and took his spear in his grasp, and stood by the chair at his father’s side, armed with gleaming steel.

Dave,
Thank you for your witty tribute to my ACE of last evening. Tex on the other hand has taken the First Amendment a step too far yet again. This is the problem with the “media” today, they think they can write any garbage, and everyone will believe it just because it is in print.
Tex,
Just to clarify the events of the last evening… I immediately broke out the “Gentleman Jack” for a quick round. I also bought those in my foursome, and all those in the clubhouse at the time we completed the round, a shot, a beer, and diner. So… Sir Tex I would have you know that I have carried on the grand traditions of this fine game (even if it seems totally wacked that the one that makes the shot has to buy).
