The Academy Boulevard Great Streets study team will present findings from its eight-month transportation and revitalization study Wednesday.
The meeting will be open to the public from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy, 4220 E. Pikes Peak Ave.
Mayor Lionel Rivera is scheduled to attend.
The team, in conjunction with City of Colorado Springs planners, has been studying the potential for bus rapid transit, streetcars and light rail, roadway configurations such as access options, frontage roads and dedicated transit lanes, and non-motorized amenities such as bike lanes and sidewalks along a six-mile stretch of Academy Boulevard from Maizeland Road on the north to Drennan Road on the south.
“Each of the alternatives was evaluated against a set of criteria established by the study team and vetted with stakeholders during an open working meeting in August,” said Project Manager Carl Schueler. “Technical land use has now been undertaken to further evaluate the primary alternatives. We will share those results with the public during … and welcome their feedback.”
